| Some really big happenings in NFL Football Ticket News today, the San Francisco 49ers have just been punished big time by the NFL commissioner for tampering with Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs. As a result of tampering they will be forfeiting their 5th round draft pick in next month’s NFL draft. NFL Football Ticket News learned that the NFL Commissioner, Goodell, said that the 49er’s tampered with Briggs last season before he was officially a free agent, violating the NFL’s anti tampering rules. Of this punishment NFL Football Ticket News was able to get this quote from the 49ers general manager, Scot McCloughan, “The 49ers organization respects Commissioner Goodell’s ruling today, however we do disagree with it. This was not a malicious act; we believe that our intent was within the NFL guidelines. Going forward, we will take the necessary steps to ensure we are in compliance with the NFL’s interpretation.” Well it seems that 49ers can go ahead and take a nice “we are caught” seat behind Belichick and his Patriots next month at the NFL draft—any other takers? |
